Irvine, California

Irvine in the state of California boasts the lowest rate of violent crime amongst the nation’s larger cities, with a rate of 48 per 100,000 head of population. This is attributed to a combination of factors. Firstly, the population is relatively high-earning and, in addition, there is a high level of educational attainment.

Murrieta, California

The second location to appear in the list of safest USA cities is Murrieta, with a rate of violent crime of 65 per 100,000 inhabitants. Once again, this is believed to be connected with the fact that Murrieta residents are relatively well-off in comparison to the rest of the country.

Cary, North Carolina

With one of the highest household incomes in the USA and an extremely low rate of poverty, Cary, in North Carolina, has a rate of violent crime of 69 per 100,000 of its citizens.

Naperville, Illinois

Naperville is another city with a substantial income per household. It ranks equally highly in terms of the educational attainments of its inhabitants. With only 73 violent crimes per 100,000, it is fourth in the list of the safest cities in the USA.

Frisco, Texas

Very high-income levels, family wealth and well funded educational establishments are all believed to contribute to the low rate of violent crime in Frisco, Texas, which stands at 76 per 100,000.

Temecula, California

The third city from the state of California to appear in the list of the safest USA cities is Temecula. However, whilst violent crime was much lower than the national average, at 85 per 100,000, property crime was more or less in line with the rest of the country.

Gilbert, Arizona

Standing out in the state of Arizona, Gilbert boasts an extremely low poverty rate and a similarly low violent crime rate. This contrasts sharply with neighboring Phoenix, which has a rate of violent crime that is far higher than the national average.

Amherst, New York

The only city in New York state to appear in the list of safest cities is Amherst, situated close by to Buffalo, with a violent crime rate of 90 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Glendale, California

Glendale, with a violent crime rate of 93 per 100,000 bucks the trend of cities whose low rate of violent crime corresponds with the relative wealth of the population. In fact, the average household income of Glendale residents is lower than the national average.

Sunnyvale, California

Sunnyvale, the fifth city from the state of California to take its place in the list of safest USA cities, has a violent crime rate of 97 per 100,000 inhabitants. Unsurprisingly, Sunnyvale has high-income levels, low poverty rates, and a well-educated population.
